How technology is used to abuse and protect young people experiencing VAWG

Course Description

This one day course will provide an overview of the different ways technology is used to abuse young people. Participants will learn how technology can impact on young people’s emotional and physical well being; including online grooming, sexting and internet safety. Practitioners will also gain knowledge about how technology can protect young people by increasing their knowledge about abuse and support services.

• To increase delegates’ knowledge on the different ways technology is used to abuse young people
• To understand the impact technology has on VAWG including domestic violence
• To expand delegates knowledge about the impact of online pornography on young peoples’ relationships
• To gain an understanding about sexting and its impact on young people
• To learn about online resources that can inform your practise with young people
• To increase knowledge on how online space can be used to reach and engage vulnerable young people

Anyone who works with young people and wants to learn more about technology and its impact on young people. Practitioners who work with young people experiencing violence and abuse including Youth Workers, Social Workers, YOT, FIP, School Nurses and Teachers.
